 MYSTIC EARTH

 

"Mystic Earth" is a semi abstract expressionism collection inspired by the wonders of nature during Melissa six-months residency in New Zealand. This body of work incorporates elements of the natural world, capturing the healing energy and profound vitality found within nature. Guided by intuition, the subconscious, and the unconscious, her creative process allows for a therapeutic flow, channeling powerful energies that resonate through each piece. This collection invites viewers to experience the essence of nature as a source of strength, tranquility and spiritual connection.

THERE IS HOPE

SALT OF EARTH

“Salt of the Earth” reflects a deep, symbolic connection to the biblical phrase from Matthew 5:13: “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?” This passage is often interpreted as representing purity, preservation, and the essence of one’s character or purpose.

The painting captures this sentiment through its natural, earthy tones and textured landscape, evoking the grounded essence and raw beauty of salt and earth. WINTER'S CALLING

The painting evokes the quiet, yet powerful presence of a deep winter scene, capturing the raw and untamed essence of South New Zealand’s wild snow-covered landscapes. The textures created by using actual snow as part of the painting process add an authentic and visceral connection to the environment, allowing nature itself to leave its imprint on the canvas.

The unconscious movement, guided by intuition rather than strict planning, reflects the wild, unbound nature of winter scene, the way snow moves unpredictably across a barren landscape. This allows for a sense of surrender to the moment, where the artist is guided by both external elements (snow, wind, sun) and internal, intuitive impulses.

OCEAN OF THE SOUL

“Ocean of the Soul” reflects the concept of an open, expansive emotional landscape, where the sky and sea represent the boundless capacity of the human heart. The painting is painted on the Uretiti beach, North Newzealand. It incorporates the practice of forgiveness, conveying that forgiveness is an ongoing process—vast and mysterious like the sea and sky—where emotions flow but ultimately merge into something larger and more profound.
